Bodybuilding And Visualization: Muscle Gain With The Mind
Discussing the importance of the mind when it comes to gaining muscle. Bodybuilding and the pursuit of muscle gain are a noble, heroic effort, which individuals partake in to better not only their own physical form, but sharpen their mental capacities as well. Building muscle requires a huge amount of mental focus. Not only is concentration placed on the particular weight lifting exercise being performed, but also on the particular muscle being worked.
That is, while careful attention is given to performing the exercise with proper form and rep cadence, another from of muscle gain focus is occurring in the form of muscle gain visualization. The individual who places mental muscle gain visualization in the same category of importance as the actual physical work being performed, has an excellent chance of successfully building muscle through the use of this body and mind technique.
Visualization has proven an effective tool in all aspects of life. And in the pursuit of muscle gain, its no different. Focusing attention on the particular muscle group one is working on, say the lateral head of the Triceps Brachii, well, it doesn’t have to be that specific (though it may!). But, say if one focuses on the tricep muscle as a whole, they first begin by envisioning that muscle being targeted and “fired”, or worked; that is, focusing on isolation of that particular muscle.
Then the individual begins focusing on the tricep muscle actually growing or becoming more developed and pronounced. Even envisioning a slab of tricep muscle hanging off the back of your arm (if muscle gain bulk is your goal). This creates a muscle gaining mind, which is now receiving signals that “hey we got to build of that tri muscle up pronto”!
The saying “if you can visualize it, you can achieve it”, I believe is more realistically said ,“if you can visualize it, you’ve taken a monumental leap in achieving it”.
Getting it into your mind that this is the type of tricep which you want to someday own, greatly enhances the chances that your mind will create the mental environment and fuel you with the mental muscle gain motivation to achieve it.
